All students will leave from one of four NewSpring campuses (Anderson, Columbia, Florence, or Greenville) early on the morning of July 26th and arrive in Daytona Beach, FL that afternoon. We'll return on the evening of July 30th.
Students will spend the week learning from God's Word during sessions led by the NewSpring Fuse band and our senior pastor, Perry Noble. In addition, students will be given daily opportunities for personal quiet time and small group discussions. During the days, students will also have free time to relax on the beach, at the pool, and around Daytona under the supervision of background-checked, interviewed, and trained leaders.
Thanks to tough economic times and good bargaining, we've been able to take $100 off the cost of last year's price. A $250 ticket will cover everything needed for the week except personal items, snacks, breakfast foods, and 2 meals in transit to/from Daytona. All purchases are non-refundable. Please plan cautiously. The only way to recoup funds will be to find another student to fill your spot. Funds will then need to be transferred between participating parties. NewSpring will not refund any money.
Every year, the Gauntlet is the single most life-changing event in our student ministry, and you definitely want to be a part of what God does in and through students during this week. If you have any further questions about the Gauntlet, please reference the frequently asked questions.
Who can go to the Gauntlet?
Any student who is completing the 6th–12th grade this spring.
When is the Gauntlet?
July 26–30th 2010
Where is the Gauntlet?
Daytona Beach, Florida
How much does the Gauntlet cost?
$250. There will be no deposits taken. All money is due upon sign up.
How can I sign up for the Gauntlet?
This year we will use an online sign up to fill out all necessary information to sign up for the trip. You will only be able to pay via credit card online.
Since the medical form has to be a signed hard copy, what do I do with that?
You can turn the Medical Release form into Guest Services on Sunday. It is imperative that you turn in the medical form at the campus which you intend to leave from the day of departure (Anderson, Greenville, Columbia, Florence.) Also, you can bring the medical form to the Gauntlet table that will be set up on Wednesday nights at Fuse (Anderson Campus – Fridays also).
What is the deadline for registration?
June 27th is the final day to sign up for Gauntlet. Medical forms must be turned in by this date in order qualify the student to go on the trip.
How can I pay for the Gauntlet?
You can pay with a credit/debit card online, and this is the way that we would like everyone to pay.
What do I do if I do not have a credit/debit card?
We will have paper packets available upon request at Guest Services on Sundays. You will be able to pay via cash or check there, however we do not encourage this unless it is completely necessary.
Is there a sibling discount?
No. As a whole, we have done everything possible to make the Gauntlet as affordable as possible so that all students and student’s siblings can attend. If you think back to last year, the cost was $350 per student and $300 for each additional sibling—making the total $650. This year the total for two siblings will be $500 instead of $650.
Can we get our money back if something comes up and my student cannot attend the Gauntlet?
NewSpring Church will be not be issuing refunds. We are approaching admission this year as a ticket. Saying that, you may “sell” your spot to someone else if you are unable to go. However you will not receive any money back from NewSpring Church.
What else do I need to know about selling my spot to someone else?
If you sell your ticket to someone else, please tell them to contact the student ministry staff at the campus you were going to attend with. This will help us get updated information for the new attendee.
Can I sponsor a child to go to the Gauntlet?
Absolutely. Please contact gauntlet@newspring.cc or our church offices for more information.
What kind of adult supervision is provided?
For every 4 students that attend the Gauntlet, we will have 1 trained, background-checked, interviewed adult leader.
Will there be trained medical staff accompanying our group to the Gauntlet?
Yes.
Will NewSpring staff and volunteers be administering student medication?
No. Due to the volume of students attending the Gauntlet, all student medication will need to be managed by the student.
Will my student be able to take a cell phone?
No. Because we believe that this trip has the potential to be life-changing, we want to alleviate anything that might distract students from focusing on God.
How can I stay informed about what is going on at the Gauntlet.
We want to do everything possible to let parents in on what’s happening in Daytona. Gauntlet daily recap – We’ll be posting daily videos on the internet for you to keep up with. Text messages - We will allow each parent to sign up for a service called TXTsignal. This will allow us to send out mass text messages to anyone who is signed up. You can sign up for this service here. Twitter - If you want further insight, you can follow Alden Ellis (Columbia), Brad Cooper (Anderson), Davey Blackburn (Greenville), or David Hall (Florence).
Will there be a meeting for parents to get even more information about the Gauntlet?
Yes.
What should I do if I have more questions?
Bring your questions to the parent meeting. We will cover all of the trip details and have a time for you to ask any remaining questions you have. Also, you may contact us at gauntlet@newspring.cc
