We are so excited to announce that on January 24th, NewSpring will be celebrating 10 amazing years in ministry. On this day, all children will be welcome into the service that is sure to be a celebration they will never forget!
There will be two viewing rooms available on that day. One will be for families whose special needs children are not comfortable sitting in the service. The other will be for nursing moms and their infants.
Don’t forget to arrive early, and we’ll see you there!
It’s Christmas and our fifth week of pretending to be the live studio audience of the Reindeer Radio Show where we sing along with some cool Christmas tunes and learn lots of good news from God’s word.
And it’s Christmas at the North Pole News where elementary school kids hear hilarious headlines and the news they Need to Know from God’s word.
Today’s Headline (Need to Know): God Sent His Son to be the Savior of the World!

Many of us receive gifts at Christmastime, and today we learned about the best gift ever—the gift God sent us on the very first Christmas—Jesus!
Our Remember Verse tells us why Jesus was born. If your child has the verse memorized on January 3, 2010, he or she will win a prize!
God sent baby Jesus to save us all from doing wrong things and to fix our friendship with God—that makes Him the best Christmas present ever!
This week at home, help your child place the ornament he or she made at church on your Christmas tree. Ask your child to tell you what Christmas trees remind us of:

What gifts have you or your child received in years past that are worn out, broken or now boring? We can all probably name a few. Today kids learned about a gift we’ve been given that never wears out, breaks or becomes boring.
In the beginning of time Adam and Eve were best friends with God, but when they disobeyed God and sinned, it hurt everyone’s friendship with God. The prophet Micah told us about how God was going to send someone special to fix our friendship with him. And one night in the tiny town of Bethlehem, the promise God made through Micah came true. A baby was born named Jesus—this was the person God said he would send to save us from our sin and fix our friendship with Him.
The cool thing was that Jesus didn’t come as a king riding on a horse or as a rich man dressed in fancy clothes. He didn’t even come as a grown up! God thought of the best way to have his friends back. He chose to come as a baby, because no one would be afraid of a baby! He came as a baby so that we could be friends with Him and not be afraid. God planned all along to come in a way we could understand.
Today’s headline, God Sent His Son to be the Savior of the World, is also a part of the Bible verse we’re memorizing. Help your child practice memorizing it at home this week so that he or she can win a prize on January 3, 2010!
REMINDER: After the last service at your campus on December 24, 2009, the next NewSpring services will be held on January 3, 2010. There will be no services on December 27, 2009.
One way we worship God is by giving! God does great things with what we give to His church.
This week we learned about some friends we have in Kenya. God has called our church to help them in many ways! Our friends in Kenya need school supplies. Next week you can worship God by giving any of the following school supplies to our church. NewSpring will take the school supplies you give to our Kenyan friends on our following trips there!
Writing Paper & Notebooks
Pencils & Pens
Colored Chalk
Christian Storybooks
Volleyballs & Soccer Balls

Sally was excited about the idea of getting money for the shows their band plays. But she was not excited about Didi’s idea to give some of her money to people who need it. Didi reminded Sally that before we spend any money on ourselves, we should give some of our money to God! When Sally heard how the poor woman in today’s Bible story gave all that she had to the church even though she didn’t have much, she realized that it makes Jesus happy when we give.
Sally also told us about the mailbox that is at the door of our SpringTown room where we can drop our offering anytime we bring it to church!

Need to Know: I Worship God When I Give Bible Story: The Believers Share What They Own (Acts 4:32-35) Memory Verse: “Shout to the Lord with joy, everyone on earth! Worship the Lord with gladness. Come to Him with songs of joy. I want you to realized that the Lord is God. He made us and we belong to Him.” Psalm 100:1-2 (Italicized verses continued for 4th-5th graders. To be continued.)

Giving is a powerfull way to worship God. In small group, we learned about the first church in the book of Acts. In this church, everyone shared what they had so that no one needed anything. There are lots of ways we can put this into practice. Today we talked about how we can worship God by giving school supplies to some friends in Kenya who do not have any. Next week, we will collect all the school supplies you give and send them with groups from NewSpring on future trips to Kenya!
In Large Group, Cloud 9’s lead singer Nate got a call from his friend Colin who manages a band named Lifted. Lifted’s trailer was stolen - along with ALL of their equipment. Nate challenged his band to donate their extra instruments. Everyone pitched in…except Kate. She wanted to keep HER stuff. Nate pointed out that while giving might be hard sometimes, it is a powerful part of worship, and God can do great things through what we give. Finally, Cloud 9’s Road Pastor, Stephen, shared the story from Acts 4 about the first church where no one was needy among them! He challenged us to follow their example and meet the needs of our friends in Kenya!
We also learned that there is a place at the door of each KidSpring room where we can drop our offering regularly!
This Week At Home
Go shopping with your child to fill up the paper bag they made this week with school supplies for our friends in Kenya. If you want to bring more than what fits in the bag, you are more than welcome to do so! Also, you can pray with your child for their new Kenyan friends.
Be a rock star in your child’s life by setting a contagious example of worship. Worship is a lifestyle that shows God you love Him more than anything else. Reward and praise your child when he or she applies what they’ve learned. See you back on Center Stage next week!
